My Final Reflection

My Final Reflection

My 6 weeks here have made me grow as a person. A person who wasn't comfortable with the environment and was overwhelmed with the work, to a person who is very comfortable and found a way to manage my work. In Media literacy class, I have learned about media. Media is an array of modern communication technologies that disseminate information to large audiences, such as movies, video games, Twitter, radio, internet, Instagram, Tik Tok, Magazines, Television, newspapers, etc. This definition has helped me determine the different genres I could use for this writing course. Reading other people's work gave me ideas I never thought of. These ideas were great, but I felt like I didn't have the right information. I remember when the PSA assignment came around, I remember a documentary Super Size Me from school. I used clips from the documentary showing why fast food is unhealthy for you. People liked the idea I was going for and something clicked with me which was GMOs. I know that fast food is processed in a certain related to in a way GMOs, but GMOs are healthier and genetically changed. I remember learning about GMOs when I was in my freshman year of high school. I knew GMOs are related to the topic of Food and Identity and GMOs are in everyone's culture. I want people to understand what GMOs really are but had the main question, "Are GMOs safe". The changes I made to improve my posts were to find better articles, videos, etc to get new information that's interesting. I would call my sister for help to see if she liked the things I picked out. I would also fix my grammar and would try to keep my writing in college-level writing even though I'm not good at writing. All of these assignments have taught me to become a more improved writer and a person overall. I felt like the student's feedback has really helped me develop ideas I couldn't think of and always try to push to reach college-level writing. I hope I use these skills when I actually go to college next year and I'm glad I took this writing course.
