Graphic Novel Presentation

 

Reflection: 

    The most exciting part about this project is being able to draw all of my ideas and be creative, so people can have a visual of my experience with my mom. The youtube channel "Munchies" specifically "The Best Secret Chinese Restaurant in Chicago"(3 Little Pigs Chi) video has helped me. This video has helped me develop my ideas for this project because he shows how his experience/progress on how he got to where he is today. He likes to cook with care and loves building connections with customers. In the video, he shows his care for his customers and they don't have to pay at the moment, they can pay back within a week if they don't have the money right now. This inspired me to use my recipe to show how my mom is when she cooks. My siblings have helped me construct my ideas on how important my mom's cooking is. They helped me show how symbolic and significant my mom’s cooking is. We don’t even notice how important your parent’s cooking is because you eat it every day and think it’s normal. In reality, it represents who you are, your background of you, and your family. A person’s background can educate you on their culture, it allows people to build connections with each other making their relationship better. Since I was here for the class discussions, Reading people’s blogs has deepened my ideas of food and my culture. It made me realize that the way you grew up that includes what you eat, dress, etc plays into your identity.
